In several regions in Indonesia there are various kinds of diversity of ethnicities and cultures. Has a very abundant natural wealth so that it provides resources that can be used and processed into works.

One of the works of the Baduy tribe is the Baduy woven cloth, which is in direct contact with nature, customs and inherited traditions of their ancestors.

The tradition of harvesting Baduy fabrics is still carried out today, with traditional and descending traditions in the outer Baduy village in Kanekes village, Leuwidamar district, Lebak district, Rangkasbitung, Banten.

Baduy woven fabrics are produced by Baduy tribe women. Based on customary regulations, men are not allowed to weave.

In the daily life of the Baduy tribe, women at home do activities from cooking, caring for children, weaving and for the men, they go to farming, gardening and looking for honey in the forest.

For Baduy women, when weaving teaches discipline. Since their childhood, every girl has been instilled with a high degree of discipline by learning the customary rules and values ​​of the Baduy indigenous people through weaving.

To produce this Baduy woven cloth, the process is quite long, it even takes months. The motifs and colors of the weaving differentiate between outer and inner Baduy. The outer Baduy community who often interact with the outside community, have more choices of fabric patterns with various colors.

Some of the names of the motifs produced by the outer Baduy community are: suat samata motif, suat balimbing motif, new eye motif, songket suat motif, tajur pinang motif, mancung fighting motif, suat kembang gedang motif, aros motif, sanglur motif or susuatan motif, motive plain, poleng sarong, herang carang carang bean motif, and herang kerep peanut poleng sarong, while the woven Baduy motif only has plain motifs and aros motifs.

The shapes and patterns chosen are not only due to aesthetic elements but are related to the characteristics of cultural customs.

Weaving activities use a set of manual looms, and are available in each house. The traditional tool of Gedogan weaving, namely the part that has been in the form of a cloth rolled with a wedge rod, while the part of the loose thread that has not been woven is rolled on the totogan.

In this loom, usually there is a comb to control the arrangement of the threads and tighten the weave

In the neighborhood of Kampung Gajeboh Baduy itself, several houses also display their weavings and it is not uncommon for visitors to buy directly from residents.

Baduy woven fabrics developed not only into long fabrics, but also scarves, scarves and sarongs with various motifs and colors.
