East Kalimantan is a province in Indonesia which has unique and interesting customs and culture. Given that East Kalimantan is inhabited by several large tribes, one of which is the Dayak tribe.

1. Traditional Dayak Ngaju Clothing

The Dayak Ngaju tribe does not dominate the area in East Kalimantan. However, their distinctive traditional clothing and unique culture make this one tribe cannot be ignored. The Ngaju Dayak tribe will be more frequently encountered and live in Central Kalimantan. So that if in East Kalimantan there are only part of it. For traditional clothes, there is a difference between women's traditional clothing and men's traditional clothes. 2. Custin Traditional Clothing

This kustin traditional clothing is the clothes worn by the Kutai tribe. Kustin is also worn by those who belong to the upper middle class, as formal clothes for wedding ceremonies. Given the name Kustin which means clothing in the Kutai language. Generally this outfit is made of velvet bag which is black in color. The sleeves are designed with long sleeves and a high collar.


As decoration on the chest and collar will be given a pasmen. For women with leprosy, they will be given additional kelibun kuing made of silk. And women will also decorate their hair with accessories similar to Javanese bun. Meanwhile for men, generally kustin will be combined with long black pants. There is also a round hair dodot decorated with the Wapen emblem.


Even though in the past those who got married also used this traditional dress, until now there are still those who are married. This clothing has a characteristic that looks luxurious and also beautiful because it uses black velvet. This is what makes Kustin very suitable if it is used as a wedding dress. Kutai also still has traditional clothes called miskat clothes. This one shirt is characterized by its striking color. Most often it is used for custom ceremonies especially for the people of Kutai. Even the Regent of Kutai Kartanegara requires civil servants to wear miskat clothes on every Thursday. The shape of the Miskat shirt is similar to the Kurung shirt at the top, and at the bottom there is a motif cloth wrapped around the waist.


3. Traditional Dayak Bulang Kuurung clothing

Traditional clothing from East Kalimantan, hereinafter is Bulang Kuurung. This one outfit adds to the uniqueness of the culture of East Kalimantan. Divided into several types, this Bulang Kuurung will be distinguished by the design of the sleeves. This traditional dress is most often worn by shamans in East Kalimantan.

If a shaman is wearing Bulang Kuurung, then the Bulang Burai King will be worn during traditional ceremonies. What makes this traditional dress unique is its characteristics looks striking. This characteristic lies in the beads and feathers of the bird. This bird feather will be worn on the head and neatly arranged. Make Bulang Burai King look more beautiful with a combination of distinctive beads and bird feathers.


5. Traditional Sapei Sapaq Clothing

Sapai sapaq clothing is a garment worn by the Dayak Kenyah tribe. Where the Dayak Kenyah are a sub-tribe of the Dayak who predominantly inhabit the East Kalimantan region. The traditional clothes are also fairly popular, known as the traditional ta'a clothes and also the traditional Sape Sapaq clothes. Where Ta'a clothes will be worn by women and Sape Sapaq clothes that will be worn by men.


The clothes between men and women, of course, have a different pattern from Ta'a clothes. The most striking difference lies in what is worn. This top is shaped like a vest combined with subordinates in the form of a loincloth or what is called an abet kaboq. This bottom looks like tight shorts. Then will be added with the mandau which will be tied at the waist.

Meanwhile, women's clothing consists of several parts, namely the da'a or headband of the pandanus, the boss is called sapei inog and the subordinates wear a skirt called ta'a. This headband is usually worn by parents, complete with tops to subordinates. This top part will be decorated with beads of various colors.
