Typical Colors of Baduy Weaving Fabric

The local culture of the archipelago recognizes woven fabrics as objects that are traditional characteristics of the community. One of the communities is the Baduy Tribe in the Kendeng Mountains, Kanekes Village. This Banten tribe has a white and dark blue woven fabric as its trademark. in addition, the rough texture and simple motif are another characteristic feature of fabrics made in this traditional way.

The Baduy Tribe woven fabric is made with the help of nature and the weaving process is carried out by the Baduy women. the process starts with cotton spun to form a thread.

From this thread the process will be continued with weaving activities. This activity can only be carried out by Baduy women. the developing myth tells us that if there are men who do weaving activities, the man's behavior will change to resemble that of a woman.
